See the world under a green umbrella
Get up and wait for the train there just after dawn
And when you’re walking down the street
Thursday morning falls upon your head
Its gonna hit you like all the things you
thought you’d do but only said
While you wait and wonder
Whether you never knew
now waiting’s all you do
You won’t feel the rain
But you’re soaked right through
Here comes that train on time
You won’t feel the rain
its a crime
If what I hear’s the way, then thunder’s the sign.
Let it roll right through the day, and right on down the line.
On the train the towns dissolve like dreams just disappear
Somehow in the raindrops falling, its all so clear
While you wait and wonder
Weather you never knew
Now waiting’s not for you
You won’t feel the rain
You’ll be soaked right through
Looks like you’ve made up your mind
You won’t feel the rain
And its no crime
We’ll kiss that train goodbye
You won’t feel the rain
You won’t feel the rain
You won’t feel the rain
Maybe later

Come the day you realize
All the things you thought were lies
Turn out to be the truth somehow
What to do is what you say now
Your innocence is faded your private little war
But behind every door
Love was always waiting for you
When you see through everything
A ghost you hear the hollow ring
Act as if its no big deal
But when it hurts you’ll know its real
Now there’s no escaping from
the long arm of the law
With every doh-mi-fa,
Love was always waiting for you
You can close your eyes,
But then the sun won’t rise
They say the world is breaking,
But you won’t believe it’s true
That even if love is waiting, what can we do?
And in the morning waking, reflected in marble blue
You won’t believe its you
Come the day you realize
All the things you thought were lies
Turn around and don’t be sad
What you knew you never had
The imitation’s jaded so you don’t want anymore
But with every open door
Love was always waiting for you

You might think you know, but don’t believe it
You might think its over, but don’t believe it
Turn over every stone, there you’ll find the truth is hiding
Knock down every door
Until we know
Heard its just a ruse, but don’t believe it
We’re just so confused, but don’t believe it
Like water over the falls, there’s no stopping us from finding out
Tear down the gates and walls
Until we know
How many times do you have to be shown
Turn on the light, their covers blown
With all your thieves and criminals (guns)
All your thieves and criminals (bombs)
You see there’ll be no stopping us
Until we know

Sun shines somehow she’s stuck inside a rainy day
Wishing the world would just disappear, but it won’t go away
She’s tried pretending he’s some other person
but it only makes it that much worse
When she’s alone talking to herself
Trying to undo the curse
She always knew what she bought, but she never thought
He’d be the last man standing
Sun shines, somehow he makes another rainy day
Wishing the world would just disappear, but it won’t go away
She’s tried pretending he’s some other person
so many times she can’t remember his face
Sleeps with a blue 45, loaded just in case
She always thought he’d be caught, but she never thought
He’d be the last man standing
On the way up to the top of the town
Did you see them waving, didn’t they tell you not to hang around
Don’t look don’t look don’t look down
Out on the roof of a blue hotel
Trying to undo the curse

Sammy pulled into town got himself a girl, conquered the world. Drove off in a mustang–now he lives in the ‘burbs. Doesn’t understand a single word you say, but he’s more than willing to follow if not just for the sake of the intellectual exercise.
Why don’t you just give it up, its a long hard climb to the drop, nobody you know even has time to stop, who’s got time–give up, give up, give it up you know you probably should.
Tony’s stuck on the freeway the kids are going out of their minds
Calls in sick on Tuesday he’d rather be somewhere out committing a crime. Never understood a single word he said ’cause I’m really trying hard to follow if not just for the sake of the habitual lies.
He stole a car out on the interstate, he could’ve made it, but he wanted the cash–now he’s wanted dead or alive

We could leave in the night, we could leave in the day, in the middle of the afternoon. We could follow the sun. What are we waiting for, play what you want to, put your hands on the wheel, (driveway) foot on the pedal, pedal (tell me) when the lights turn green we’ll driveaway.
We can leave in the night, we can leave in the day but it can’t be too soon. We can go, we can run. What are we waiting for? You know I think we should drive away. When the night falls we’ll slip into the cars and driveaway.
Riding off in a dream all the cars just twinkle & shine kaleidoscopic lights. Up through the turn-around, we’ll go a little faster and sometime by the middle of day we’ll cross the line. And if you don’t turn around what does it really matter? We can drive away and leave all this behind. Driveaway.

Everyone knows her name, come Saturday she’ll be far away. What can I say to her that she hasn’t heard a thousand times, Julia’s waiting.
One thing I know it won’t be long before someone comes to meet her, they’ll run away. But if you should see her, don’t think that you have a chance, don’t think you should even ask. Julia’s waiting.
She knows that at best its a guess that it’s just a little pie in the sky. She knows that we must be out of our heads.
Now nobody knows her name, come Saturday, we’ll be far away. And if you should ask me just what we’ll do, don’t hope for an answer, Julia’s waiting.
She knows that it comes and it goes, that it’s just between a ring and a chime. She knows that it’s only a matter of time.
She knows as a matter of fact that there’s very little reason or rhyme. She knows thats it’s only a matter of time. Julia’s waiting

I think I’m going, I think it’s showing, I, I think I’m going crazy, (go go go) I’m going out of my mind
I’ve been tossin’ and turnin’ in the middle of the night, what if she did, what if she was and now she doesn’t. And what if she does?
All of a sudden, here she comes straight downtown knocking on your door With a little luck and who cares how much money, anything you want, who cares how much honey. Its anything you say, anything you want, anything that you do.
I know this time I’m in trouble, I’ve got a thousand other things I should do, instead of thinking about them I’m thinking of you. If I don’t get out quick on the double, I’m gonna find out what it means to be true. I could try to blame you, but you don’t know what you do

Like Icarus

Hold on to the waves over the ocean
Hold on to the wind that blows the sea
Clouds roll in like ships on the storm
I remember well the way the wind held my arm
Like Icarus I fell from the sky
Like Icarus ascending
Hold on to the whispering emotion
Hold on to the rain as you begin to fall
Sounds like hooves become thunderstorms
And roll away the curtains usher in the dawn
Like Icarus I fell from the sky
Like Icarus ascending
And from the dark comes a voice
How dark is the night?
And from the dark I hear the distance
How dark is the night.

In Her Collage
03:21
|

In her collage you won’t believe yourself. In her collage, a clock with a face strikes twelve. Scribbled on a matchbook, paperbacks, coffee-stained with shellac. Newspaper headlines crash into her front and back.
In her collage, you won’t believe yourself, in her collage,
while children play the cat sits on the shelf.
Rubbings from the ruins, scribbles on a photograph,
hidden meanings like smoke he can’t catch.
And from a Chaim Soutine two lovers ripped apart and put together again. Heralding trumpets softly pounding Allenbrook’s “Ode to Dreams”
But what the time is for?
Sitting on the basement steps I must have dozed off for a minute or two. Dreamed of the cities we’ve lived in, walking ’round, somebody had started to laugh, words were flowing out of your mouth like rain and the world was in the palm of your hand.
Scribbled on a paper something I can’t quite make out, in her collage, you won’t believe yourself in her collage.
